A Sensible Project Process

A workable kitchen project starts with what the room is doing wrong, not a finish board.

1. Note what isn’t working

Write down what’s cramped, what’s broken, and what has already been patched or replaced.

2. Look past the cabinet doors

Cabinet runs, appliance clearances, task lighting, venting, water and gas lines, and any wall coming down all have to line up before finishes get chosen.

3. Put the scope in writing

Protection, materials, access, permits, testing, cleanup, finish restoration, exclusions, and how changes get priced should all be spelled out before work starts.

4. Weigh the proposals, not just the totals

Check credentials, then compare how each provider reasons through the same scope and where their responsibility ends.

5. Walk the closeout

Confirm testing, cleanup, paperwork, warranty terms, and whatever maintenance is left to the homeowner.
